Looking for Makers

UW-Extension is looking for Makers in the City of Superior and Douglas County. We support Superior Entrepreneurs On Tap with the SBDC, but we are interested in exploring the unique needs of makers.  What types of educational services do makers need? Are makers interested in networking opportunities with one another? Connecting makers with existing groups like the Superior Council for the Arts.

What is a Maker?

Adam Savage in Make magazine described makers this way:

“Humans do two things that make us unique from all other animals; we use tools and we tell stories. And when you make something, you’re doing both at once.”

Makers make things, examples could include: pottery, metal work, crafts, craft foods, music, performance art, textiles, mixed media, painting, photography… there is no limit to a makers creativity.  If you think you’re a maker, you probably are!

Let us know who you are by sharing your contact information here.

What will we do with your information?

After we identify a base of Makers who are making in the area, we will contact you by email with a short survey.  At any time you may elect to remove yourself from the list.  Our survey will be to collect information about educational programming that may interest you, networking opportunities, and opportunities to help expand and grow your making business.

If you have questions, please email or call James Anderson, community and economic development educator at (715) 395-1547.
